Friendly and informal

Designed in such a way as to enhance the feel of the neighborhood pizzeria, “Margherita pizzeria del quartiere dal 1959” is the perfect meeting place

The inspiring concept of Margherita is that of a “casual pizzeria” and its watchwords are tradition and quality. This is thoroughly reflected in the menu, which offers authentic Neapolitan food prepared with superior ingredients, and a strong emphasis on pizza baked in the restaurant’s centerpiece, a wood-burning oven. Cozy seating combined with earthy tones immediately put you at ease, and the friendly and informal service combined with the buzz of activity from the pizza counter and semi-open kitchen come together to create a unique dining experience.

The menu is accurately described as the best and freshest ingredients the market has to offer, prepared with simplicity and elegance. Constant quality levels, such as offering niche goods related to the territorial location and rigorous respect of traditional pizza and recipes preparation methods, are possible thanks to the franchisor know-know and professional staff training, taught by expert chefs respecting the original Neapolitan recipes.

Whether for a quick meal or relaxed evening, “Margherita pizzeria del quartiere dal 1959” delivers the authentic taste of Naples with simplicity and elegance. Margherita pizzeria del quartiere dal 1959 first opened in Lebanon in July 2008 in one of the most traditional streets in Lebanon’s capital, Gemmayzeh. Following its huge success, the first franchised branch opened in Lebanon in November 2011 in Sin El Fil, in the Metn region, and the second one in October 2012 in the ABC Mall, in Achrafieh. The third franchised branch is expected to open in February 2013 in Dbayeh, Blueberry Square. And more is yet to come.

The discovery of an old typical and traditional Lebanese house located on the seaside 15 km away from the city center lead to the creation of a subsidiary concept of Margherita pizzeria del quartiere dal 1959: Margherita Mare. The architecture of the house provided the opportunity of creating two different types of atmosphere, the inside for the wintertime and the two terraces for the summertime. The terraces are designed and decorated in a way to recreate the authenticity on a Neapolitan coastal “terrazza” restaurant. The menu includes al the classical items of Margherita pizzeria del quartiere dal 1959 and has 15 new seafood platters. Margherita Mare opened its doors in July 2012.

Who by now doesn’t know Margherita? This famous pizzeria, which opened its door first along the Gemmayze district in 2008, brings Lebanon a whole new meaning and taste to Italian cuisine. Since then, Margherita has expanded, opening in various locations around Lebanon including ABC Achrafieh, Horsh Tabet, Jounieh’s old souk and more recently in the latest Blueberry Square in Dbayeh.

With a few friends, I headed down to Margherita located in old Jounieh souks, where the whole authentic Italian food experience is simply praiseworthy.

The Jounieh spot oozes a Mediterranean feel on so many levels. A location exerting flair of salt, waves and sea, Margherita has combined both popular Mediterranean cultures in the best way possible. Italy and Lebanon meet in the heart of Jounieh’s old souk, nestled behind the main strip of shops. There, stands an old Lebanese house perfectly refurbished and preserved, where premium ingredients blend perfectly to satisfy the most demanding of clients.

A little slice of italy

Jeddah is no stranger to Italian cuisine and over the years, this popular ethnic favorite has become everyone’s top choice for a comforting, delicious meal. The newly opened Margherita takes Italian food to a whole new standard with their beautiful setting, quality ingredients, and authentic dishes from southern Italy.

Margherita began as the brainchild of veteran Chef Giovanni, who first opened the restaurant’s original location in Beirut in 2008. Three years later, Margherita makes its stunning debut in Jeddah with the attainable ambition of becoming the best Italian in town. Chef Giovanni summed up the idea behind Margherita as he said, “We’re trying to share with diners the cuisine, smells, colors and culture of southern Italy. The staples of the Mediterranean lifestyle – olive oil, fresh produce of the highest quality – are all represented here. We want people to appreciate al dente pasta, the taste of Neapolitan pizza, and the variety of cheeses.” At Margherita, nothing is spared in the name of quality. It is evident in the first bite that every single ingredient in any given dish meets their high standards of freshness and flavor.

Marvel of Margherita Prodigio italiano

Margherita pizzeria del quartiere dal 1959 is the brainchild of Italian Chef Giovanni Casa. Margherita in Jeddah is his first franchise in the Kingdom. Located in The Courtyard at the brink of Rawdah District, Margherita has a charm and presence of a coveted and convivial parlor.

Chef Giovanni grew up in Sorrento near Napoli, amid a family of restaurateurs. From a young age, his love for food, combined with his roots, made cooking second nature to him. Giovanni spent many years perfecting his talents in Italy and in France on the Cote d’Azure prior to moving to Lebanon in 2001. He decided to go solo in 2006 and opened his first restaurant, the Da Giovanni, which raised the bar for Italian dining in Lebanon. In 2008, he decided to add to his portfolio by creating an accessible concept combining quality, authenticity and value for money. Hence, Margherita pizzeria del quartiere dal 1959 was born.
